Thomas Tuchel responds to Man Utd links as speculation increases

Thomas Tuchel has responded to rumours linking him to the managerial position at Manchester United ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Tuchel, who is currently in charge of Chelsea, is reportedly on the shortlist to take over from Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.

The 48-year-old is being monitored closely by the Red Devils alongside Erik ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, Julen Lopetegui, and Luis Enrique.

But the German boss has dismissed speculation linking him to United, insisting he is fully committed to Chelsea.

Asked for his reaction, he simply said: “There’s actually no reaction at all. Do you feel me less committed to the club or less involved in the club in my situation? Absolutely not.

“I’ve said many times that I love to be here, that I love to work for Chelsea and that this club has everything what it needs to make me happy. That’s why there’s no need. And we have plenty of reasons to stay in the moment here, and this is what we do.”

Earlier this week, Jamie Carragher urged United to make a move for the former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain boss.

“Manchester United have been presented with the ideal opportunity to recruit the manager who should be their number one target: Thomas Tuchel,” Carragher wrote in his column for The Telegraph.

“Tuchel, like everyone else at Stamford Bridge, will have no idea what the future holds at his current club. No-one can offer him any assurances about how the squad will look at the start of next season given the club’s sale is on hold.

“No manager wants to be working amid such a background of uncertainty. If he gets the chance to leave for a club of United’s stature, he must take it.”
