Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan became the first bowler to take 40 wickets in T20 World Cup matches. He achieved this feat during his team’s match against Sri Lanka today.
Heading into this Super 12 match in T20 World Cup 2021, Shakib Al Hasan had the same number of wickets as former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi (39).
The left-arm spinner dismissed the well-set Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando in his spell’s second over to take his tally to 41 wickets. He thereby became the most successful bowler in the mega event’s history.
