Report states who is the ‘favourite’ to become Manchester United’s next manager

As we enter March tomorrow, Manchester United fans are still left wondering who will be in the dugout at Old Trafford next season.

Once the season finishes, interim boss Ralf Rangnick will move upstairs into his consultancy role which he will fulfil for two years.

The German has been in temporary charge since November, following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick’s three-game caretaker spell.

Paris Saint Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax manager Erik ten Hag have been the two managers that have been consistently linked with the vacancy ever since Solskjaer parted ways with the club.

My Europa League Predictions.

The Mail report new chief executive Richard Arnold wants the new permanent manager to be appointed as soon as possible after the season finishes.

The report states: “Arnold wants to appoint the new man as soon as possible after the end of the season so he can play a part in recruiting new signings to replace those who will go this summer.”

And the Athletic believe that former Tottenham boss Pochettino “is the favourite to replace Rangnick in the summer”.

Since going for a meal with Sir Alex Ferguson in 2016, there was a feeling the legendary Scotsman was getting a feeling of the Argentine’s long-term plans and whether he would be the right fit for the Red Devils.

John Murtough, the club’s football director, will lead the pursuit of our next permanent manager, with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward gone.

Darren Fletcher, who helped with the Rangnick deal, will support Murtough and Arnold, who will give the seal of approval on the appointment.

However, Spanish outlet Diario Sport claim that Pochettino is keen on a move to the Spanish capital with Real Madrid.

Pochettino’s short-term focus is likely to be on winning PSG’s much-coveted and elusive first Champions League.

It’s inevitable that there could be some twists and turns in United’s pursuit of our next manager, but it seems that Mauricio Pochettino could well be the man that the United hierarchy have their eyes set on.
