Los Angeles County will reinstate a mask mandate for residents beginning Saturday night, according to multiple reports, to stem the increasing number of Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations.
Los Angeles County reported more than 1,500 new cases of Covid-19 Thursday, the county’s head of public health, Muntu Davis, told reporters, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The mask mandate will begin at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, according to the Times.
The mandate will apply “regardless of vaccination status,” according to a presentation reported on by news radio station KNX 1070.
The county had asked people to voluntarily wear masks indoors in late June to arrest the spread of the Delta variant, the Times reported.
